Kroger Aisle Layout

Here is the general layout of a Kroger store. Some Kroger stores will have little variations such as having the deli before the bakery. Another thing to note is that not all Kroger locations have the same items in an aisle number. For example, if you go to Kroger #1, pasta and pizza sauce may be in the sauce aisle but at Kroger #2, pasta is in the sauce aisle and pizza sauce is in the pizza aisle. Similarly at Kroger #1 let’s say Aisle 1 is international food but at Kroger #2 Aisle #1 is for Beer/Wine/Liquor. If you want to quickly find what aisle your food is in, use our tool, enter your store zip code, select the store, type in the food you want and it will say the aisle and price.

Key terms to know when understanding the kroger aisle layout

Department: A section of the store dedicated to selling a specific product. Departments are usually more open than an aisle.

Common grocery store departments and sections are:

  • The Produce department
  • The Meat department
  • The Seafood department
  • The Beer and Wine section
  • The Health and Beauty department
  • The Deli/Prepared Foods department

Aisle: An aisle is a lane of a grocery store with food on shelves that are on the left and right side.

Bay: This refers to a length of shelving containing a group of products or a category of products.shelf length is often referred to as a bay, but in some cases the two shelf lengths might be referred to as a bay. For example, when you are in the dairy department. For example, in the frozen ice cream section, there are multiple doors so one set of doors makes up a bay.

Shelf Side: This will either be right or left. If you stand in the parking lot and face the store this will be the orientation inside the store. For example, the left side of an aisle will be the same orientation as if you were standing in the parking lot and not as if you were facing the parking lot from inside the store.
